Maastricht Aachen Airport welcomes Avianca Cargo flights
Avianca Cargo launches twice-weekly A330 freighter flights at MST, strengthening Europe–Latin America connectivity.;
Maastricht, the Netherlands, October 2, 2025: Maastricht Aachen Airport (MST) has expanded its cargo portfolio with the addition of Colombian carrier Avianca Cargo, which has introduced two weekly freighter flights connecting Europe and Latin America.
From October 2025, Avianca Cargo will operate an Airbus A330 on the route, offering a maximum payload of 61 tons per flight. The service will link Quito, Miami, Maastricht, and Zaragoza, enabling the import of fresh flowers from South America to Europe, while exporting fashion apparel for a major European high-street brand.
The announcement comes during a year of sustained growth for Maastricht Aachen Airport. In the first eight months of 2025, MST recorded a 25 percent increase in cargo volumes compared to the same period in 2024. This momentum has been driven by expansions from Turkish Cargo and Emirates SkyCargo, alongside the arrivals of My Freighter and Ethiopian Cargo.
“We are proud that, after My Freighter, Avianca Cargo has now also chosen Maastricht Aachen Airport,” said Dean Boljuncic, Head of Commercial Development at MST. “With every new route, we increase the international connectivity of our airport. Our team is ready to introduce Avianca to the excellent and unbeatable handling for which MST is known.”
María Ximena Marín Morales, Communication Manager for Business Units at Avianca, emphasized the importance of MST as a European gateway: “In October 2025, we will begin transporting cargo from Latin America to Maastricht, a key connection point, and we look forward to continuing to grow at this strategic hub.”
With Avianca Cargo’s entry, Maastricht Aachen Airport continues to reinforce its role as a central logistics hub for Europe, serving as a bridge between Latin America and European trade flows.
