Schiphol appoints Eduard Molkenboer as head of cargo
Schiphol, Europe’s premier air cargo hub, has a new head of cargo. Eduard Molkenboer takes charge next month.;
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has appointed Eduard Molkenboer as its new head of cargo. He will join Schiphol Cargo on 5 August 2025, succeeding Joost van Doesburg, who stepped down on 1 February 2025. In December 2024, Royal Schiphol Group formally announced that Van Doesburg would step down.
Molkenboer brings 35 years of professional experience, including 18 years in logistics and supply chain roles. He spent a decade with DHL Supply Chain and two years with DHL Express. In addition, he has a few years of experience working with shipping lines and container terminal operators.
However, over the past 10 years, Molkenboer held leadership roles in companies not directly connected to air cargo or logistics. He joins Schiphol from CleanLease, where he served as Chief Executive Officer. CleanLease specializes in textile rental and laundry services, primarily catering to the healthcare and holiday park sectors in the Netherlands and Belgium.
“His arrival supports Schiphol’s renewed cargo strategy, focused on cargo capacity optimisation, higher load factors, and stronger collaboration with partners like Cargonaut and Maastricht Aachen Airport,” Schiphol Cargo stated in a LinkedIn post announcing his appointment.
Molkenboer will not only lead cargo operations at one of Europe’s premier cargo airports but will also oversee operations at Maastricht Aachen Airport, in which Royal Schiphol Group holds a 40% stake. This strategic partnership was finalized in June 2023, with Schiphol investing €4.2 million to become the second shareholder alongside the Province of Limburg.
Schiphol also owns Cargonaut, the cargo community information platform that develops and facilitates a seamless, predictable, and data-driven cargo process at the airport. When Cargonaut was founded in 1986, Schiphol held a stake in the company, but since 1 November 2020, it has been the sole owner of the information hub, which establishes international connections with other logistics hubs and partners.
