ANA Holdings has begun a strategic reorganisation of its group-wide cargo business to speed up decision-making, streamline operations and improve profitability following the integration of Nippon Cargo Airlines.

The Tokyo-based group said the move underlines its focus on strengthening cargo as a key growth pillar while maximising synergies across the group. The reorganisation aims to optimise cost structures and enhance overall performance across the cargo segment and is targeted for completion by the end of FY2026, subject to Nippon Cargo Airlines retaining its Air Operator Certificate.

ANA acquired Nippon Cargo Airlines on August 1, 2025, creating Japan’s largest combined passenger and cargo airline group. Since the acquisition, ANA and NCA have begun generating operational synergies, including shared use of cargo space and the launch of cargo codeshare flights on major North American and European routes from October 26.

Following a detailed internal review, ANA said it has identified the need for an optimal organisational structure to further strengthen collaboration between ANA and NCA. The group has therefore started preparations for reorganising its cargo-related companies, with further details on the structure and implementation plan to be decided as evaluations continue.

ANA HD said the reorganisation will allow it to combine NCA’s fleet of large dedicated freighters with ANA’s global passenger and cargo network and the group’s broader resources. This approach is expected to improve efficiency, expand service offerings and deliver greater value to customers as global cargo market demands continue to evolve.
