SmartKargo has signed a strategic agreement with Sun Phu Quoc Airways to provide its cloud-native cargo management platform, supporting the Vietnamese airline's plans to build a modern, scalable and fully digitised cargo business.

Under the agreement, Sun Phu Quoc Airways will deploy the SmartKargo platform as the foundation of its cargo operations. The platform will provide end-to-end cargo capabilities through a single cloud-based architecture as the airline establishes cargo as a key part of its commercial growth strategy.

The airline said the platform will support its expanding international network and strengthen Phu Quoc's role as a regional aviation gateway. Cargo is expected to play a bigger role in improving network efficiency, supporting commercial growth and strengthening long-term operational competitiveness. The introduction of Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft from September 2026 will increase belly cargo capacity on international routes, making the deployment of a scalable cargo management platform a priority. The implementation also supports the airline's wider digital transformation plans and its ambition to become a five-star international airline.

The company said Vietnam's air cargo sector continues to grow, driven by the country's export economy, increasing e-commerce activity and its position as a manufacturing and logistics hub in Southeast Asia. By building its cargo operations on the SmartKargo platform from the outset, Sun Phu Quoc Airways aims to support growth with greater operational efficiency and commercial capabilities.

Truong Ngo Quoc, Chief Information Officer at Sun Phu Quoc Airways, said the airline wanted to build a technology-led and scalable cargo business. He said SmartKargo was selected after a detailed evaluation because its platform could meet the airline's current requirements while supporting future expansion. He added that the platform would provide the digital infrastructure needed to compete in regional and global markets.

Olivier Houri, Chief Revenue Officer at SmartKargo, said Southeast Asia is one of the fastest-growing air cargo markets, with Vietnam at the centre of that growth. He said the partnership reflects a shared belief that technology is essential for building a commercially competitive and operationally efficient cargo business, and that SmartKargo is committed to supporting the airline's cargo ambitions.
