Philippine Airlines (PAL) has selected IBS Software’s iCargo platform to replace its existing cargo system and modernise its domestic and international cargo operations.

The cloud-based platform brings together cargo sales, ground handling operations and revenue accounting. It will support PAL’s cargo business across commercial operations, ground handling and back-office accounting through a single integrated system.

The platform will also support international requirements, including customs reporting, duties and tax settlement, and regulatory compliance.

The transition is expected to address operational requirements such as system performance and data analytics. iCargo will support faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility, while reducing manual work and improving processes.

The new system is also expected to help PAL improve its cargo services as volumes grow across its network. The airline said the platform would provide a foundation for further innovation, operational improvements and long-term growth.

Jason Siy, Vice President for Cargo Business at Philippine Airlines, said the initiative was an important step in modernising the airline’s cargo business.

As PAL expands its domestic and international network, it needs a system that improves visibility and operational efficiency while providing a better customer experience, he said.

Siy added that iCargo would support the airline’s long-term cargo transformation strategy and its ambition to build a stronger cargo business.

Sunil George, Vice President and Region Head of Oceania at IBS Software, said the company would work with PAL to build a digital foundation for future growth, innovation and operational excellence.

IBS Software said its proposal was selected for its technology capabilities and track record in delivering cargo transformation projects for airlines worldwide. The agreement also builds on the existing relationship between the two companies and expands the range of IBS Software products used by PAL.
