Six lions begin new life in South Africa
Six lions complete their journey from Argentina to South Africa with support from KLM Martinair Cargo, heading to a safe new home at LIONSROCK.
Six lions have arrived safely in South Africa following a carefully coordinated international journey from Buenos Aires, Argentina, via Amsterdam to Johannesburg.
The complex operation brought together animal welfare specialists, veterinarians and specialist logistics teams from around the world. Air France KLM Martinair Cargo contributed its global network and aviation expertise to support the transportation of the animals throughout their journey.
The lions are part of a larger wildlife relocation initiative led by FOUR PAWS, which is transferring lions and tigers from Argentina to safe, permanent homes in South Africa and the United States.
Following their arrival in Johannesburg, the six lions will continue their journey to LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary, where they will begin a new chapter in a safe and protected environment.
The relocation highlights the importance of international cooperation in ensuring the safe movement of rescued wildlife. By combining expertise in animal welfare, veterinary care, aviation and specialist logistics, the teams involved were able to help provide the lions with a secure new home.
From Argentina to South Africa, the journey represents more than an international transfer. For the six lions, it marks the beginning of a new life in a sanctuary dedicated to their safety and well-being.
