Ostend-Bruges Airport in Belgium has appointed Johan Leunen as Cargo Development Director to strengthen its cargo activities and growth. The announcement was made on October 9, 2025.

Johan Leunen brings over 23 years of experience in cargo handling, forwarding, and airport development. He will work alongside Cargo Sales Director Rose Yiqian QIU and Egis Group Director of Cargo Strategy Steven Verhasselt to develop cargo services, attract business, and support the airport’s strategic ambitions.

Johan started his career in 2000, holding roles in operations, customer support, and sales management. He later joined Brussels Airport as Cargo Marketing Manager and, until January 2025, served as Senior Business & Development Manager Cargo, contributing to attracting new cargo airlines and logistics players.

Nathan De Valck, CEO of Ostend-Bruges Airport, said, “We strongly believe in the opportunities that the air cargo sector holds for Ostend-Bruges Airport. Johan’s expertise, industry knowledge, and extensive network will be a great asset to our team. With his support, we are confident we can strengthen our position as a key cargo gateway and contribute to the economic development of the region.”

Ostend-Bruges Airport operates without slot restrictions and supports fast cargo turnaround times. Its location near the Eurotunnel terminal and Port of Antwerp-Bruges allows efficient intermodal connectivity. The airport is also investing in MRO activities and provides direct highway access to France, the Netherlands, Germany, and other parts of Belgium.
