Egis appoints Steven Verhasselt to lead air freight network strategy
Based in Belgium, he brings global airport experience and will support airports operated by Egis and its partners.

Egis, the French airport operations and management company, has signed a long-term consultancy agreement with Cargo Strat to support the strategic development of its airport operations and management business. According to Eric Dumas, Director of airport concessions at Egis Group, the partnership with Steven Verhasselt, the director and lead consultant with Cargo Strat, will "strengthen Egis’ commercial strategy in the air freight sector."
Beginning August 1, 2025, Belgium-based Verhasselt will work with Egis to lead the development of a commercial air freight strategy across its airport network, primarily Ostend-Bruges Airport. Additional locations, including Abidjan, Brazzaville, Pointe-Noire, Cyprus, and Cayenne, will be added once Egis’s operating contract begins on October 1.
Verhasselt has been Managing Partner at FB Cargo Strategy Consulting since April 2021. He previously spent over 15 years at Liège Airport as VP Commercial and Business Development Manager, focusing contributions on cargo. He also worked as Business Development Manager Asia for Brussels Airport Company from 2003 to 2006.
“I am delighted about this collaboration which will enable us to design and implement a network strategy within our freight airports, particularly between Africa and Europe + the UK through Ostend-Bruges airport,” Dumas said.
Egis has also strengthened its leadership in Belgium by appointing Nathan De Valck as CEO of Antwerp and Ostend airports from June 2025. Both regional hubs are operated by Egis. De Valck brings over two decades of cargo expertise, having led operations at WFS Belgium and previously held key roles at Brussels Airport Company and industry groups like Pharma.Aero.
