Lufthansa resumes Riyadh flights with strong cargo demand

Lufthansa has resumed its Frankfurt-Riyadh service with three weekly A340 flights from September 10, 2026, with cargo capacity fully utilised from the first day amid strong customer demand.
The Lufthansa Group said the decision to gradually resume flights to the Middle East followed a comprehensive safety and security assessment. The group is continuously monitoring the security situation in the region and remains in close contact with authorities.
The resumed service is seeing cargo demand across several commodities. Shipments from Riyadh include machinery, aircraft parts, pharmaceuticals and computer equipment, which are moving through Lufthansa's network to destinations in Europe, the Americas and Africa.
Lufthansa said the strong cargo response reflects the importance of reliable global connections and noted that available capacity was fully utilised from the first day of the renewed connectivity.
The Frankfurt-Riyadh service is operating three times a week. ITA Airways is also set to restart its Rome Fiumicino-Riyadh service on September 15th, 2026.
The Lufthansa Group had earlier announced that Eurowings resumed flights to Beirut on 1 July. Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa are also scheduled to resume services between Vienna and Amman from 2 October, while Lufthansa's Frankfurt-Amman service is scheduled to restart daily from 25 October.
The Lufthansa Group said changes may occur for individual airlines due to the dynamic situation and will be communicated accordingly.
