Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK) has appointed Jules Matteoni as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 July 2026, as the airport prepares for its next phase of cargo and e-commerce expansion. Matteoni succeeds Ian Forgie, who is retiring after leading the airport for five years. A long-serving aviation executive with more than 33 years at Prestwick Airport, Matteoni most recently served as Operations Director and played a key role in strengthening the airport’s position as a major UK gateway for international cargo and e-commerce traffic.

His appointment follows an extensive recruitment process conducted by the airport’s Board and supported by an external executive search firm. Commenting on his appointment, Matteoni said he intends to build on the airport’s recent progress while strengthening existing markets and exploring new opportunities aligned with Prestwick’s commercial strengths and strategic role within the UK supply chain.

He also thanked outgoing CEO Ian Forgie for his leadership and contribution over the past five years. Announcing the appointment, Chairman Dr Willie Mackie said Matteoni’s three decades of experience and strong industry reputation make him well positioned to lead the airport’s next stage of growth.

He highlighted Matteoni’s role in expanding Prestwick’s e-commerce business, which has become a major driver of the airport’s cargo operations. Under Ian Forgie’s leadership since March 2021, Glasgow Prestwick Airport expanded its cargo footprint significantly.

During the past twelve months, the airport processed more than 33 million e-commerce parcels, established regular freighter services connecting Scotland with mainland China and supported the export of more than 1.5 million kilograms of Scottish salmon between 1 January and 15 May 2026.

The leadership transition comes as Prestwick continues positioning itself as a strategic cargo and e-commerce gateway within the UK and international logistics network.
