IAG Cargo, in partnership with Iberia, has transported more than 450 artefacts from Mexico City to Madrid for the exhibition “Half the World: Women in Indigenous Mexico”. The shipment was carried on four Iberia A350 flights and used IAG Cargo’s Secure service.

The artefacts will be displayed across three Madrid institutions from 31 October 2025 to early 2026. The exhibition was organised by Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs through AECID and Mexico’s Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH).

The artefacts, which highlight Mexico’s indigenous heritage, were sent under an agreement between the embassies of Mexico and Spain. IAG Cargo’s Secure service provided specialised handling, surveillance, and dedicated storage to ensure safe transport from origin to destination.

In Madrid, the collection will be exhibited at Museo Arqueológico Nacional, Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, and Instituto Cervantes. Each institution will feature different pieces representing the cultural and historical narratives of women in indigenous Mexico.

Camilo Garcia, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at IAG Cargo, said, “At IAG Cargo, we take great pride in connecting cultures and communities through the movement of precious and meaningful cargo. Whether it’s fine art, historical artefacts, or cultural treasures, our priority is always the same – ensuring every item reaches its destination safely, securely, and on time.”

He added that collaborations such as this reflect IAG Cargo’s commitment to preserving culture and fostering global connection.

Sonia Sánchez, Director of Communication, Institutional Relations, and Social Impact at Iberia, said, “Iberia works every day to make our commitment to generating prosperity a reality, connecting people and cultures from all over the world. We are proud to have been responsible for transporting this exhibition from Mexico City, one of our most emblematic destinations in Latin America.”

She said the project reinforces cultural and friendship ties between Spain and Mexico, highlighting Iberia’s role as a link between Europe and Latin America.
