CargoPoint expands China-Europe network with Almaty hub

CargoPoint has opened a new office in Almaty, Kazakhstan, strengthening its presence in Central Asia and expanding its Truck+Air network for China-Europe cargo.

The new office will provide CargoPoint with an on-ground team in Kazakhstan, a key transit point for its China-Europe corridor. Under the company’s Truck+Air solution, cargo consolidated in Shenzhen and Xi’an is transported by road across Khorgos into Kazakhstan before being flown from Almaty and Astana to destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.

Previously coordinated from CargoPoint’s headquarters in Tashkent, the route can reduce China-Europe transit times by at least two days.

CargoPoint said its “deferred” air freight service combines the speed of air transport with the cost efficiency of road freight, offering shippers an alternative to traditional routes such as Russian rail and Red Sea ocean lanes.

The two offices will now share responsibility for the corridor, with shipments via Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan managed locally by the respective teams on the ground.

CargoPoint Business Development Director Mirzali Mirusmonov said the Almaty investment is aimed at completing the company’s existing network rather than entering a new market. He added that the new office gives CargoPoint operational control across the corridor, strengthening execution, improving scalability and creating a platform for long-term growth as trade flows evolve.

The logistics provider expects Almaty volumes to increase as shippers increasingly shift freight away from congested maritime routes and airspace impacted by geopolitical disruptions. The company plans to serve both new and existing customers through the Almaty office while expanding routing options via Central Asian gateways for its China-Europe Truck+Air multimodal service.
