Qatar Airways Cargo and Airlink deliver 720 tonnes of humanitarian aid
Qatar Airways Cargo, with Airlink, reaches 15.5M lives globally through the WeQare humanitarian programme.;
Over the past five years, Qatar Airways Cargo has emerged as a key player in humanitarian logistics, transporting 720 tonnes of life-saving aid pro bono in collaboration with Airlink and 42 of its non-profit partners. This initiative has positively impacted over 15.5 million lives across 34 countries, underlining the airline’s commitment to delivering critical support where it is needed most.
The airline’s efforts are anchored in its WeQare programme, a global initiative designed to create meaningful social impact through humanitarian aid, environmental stewardship, and charitable initiatives. In 2024 alone, Qatar Airways Cargo shipped 136 tonnes of essential supplies to 12 countries, partnering with 16 NGOs. These shipments included essential medicines, clean water, and shelter materials—totaling USD $2.19 million in logistics savings. Such efficiencies enabled Airlink and its partners to allocate funds directly toward scaling up humanitarian response efforts.
Mark Drusch, Chief Officer Cargo at Qatar Airways Cargo, emphasized the programme’s mission, stating, “WeQare is more than a name—it’s a mission. We are committed to helping Airlink and their partners deliver the right aid, to the right place, at the right time. We continue to support charitable, environmental and humanitarian initiatives across the globe, and will always step up to support our partners.”
Stephanie Steege, Vice President of Humanitarian Programs at Airlink, highlighted the partnership’s impact: “The partnership between Qatar Airways Cargo and Airlink is critical in swiftly delivering aid to hard-to-reach crises and supporting our health system strengthening programs, and we are proud of what we have accomplished together. For more than a third of Airlink’s 15-year history, Qatar Airways Cargo has made a transformative impact on our programs worldwide. We thank everyone at Qatar Airways Cargo for their years of support and look forward to continuing to bring hope and relief to communities in crisis for years to come.”
Qatar Airways Cargo’s sustained humanitarian work was recognised in 2025 with the prestigious Air Transport World (ATW) Humanitarian Award, underscoring the airline’s dedication to leveraging its global network and resources for disaster relief. Alongside Airlink, the airline also supports organisations such as UNHCR, UNICEF, and World Food Programme, transporting a total of 470,000 kg of aid in the 2024–2025 financial year.
The figures clearly demonstrate the scale and commitment of Qatar Airways Cargo’s pro bono humanitarian efforts: 720 tonnes shipped, USD $6.59 million saved for NGOs, over 15.5 million people reached, and response to 20+ global emergencies—cementing its role as a vital partner in global aid delivery.
