project44 acquires LunaPath to boost AI supply chain execution
Deal adds AI agents to enable real-time execution, enhancing project44’s supply chain automation and visibility platform
project44 has announced the acquisition of LunaPath.ai in an all-cash transaction, aiming to accelerate its AI Agent Orchestration strategy by adding execution-focused automation to its supply chain platform.
LunaPath is an AI-native logistics automation company specialising in orchestration and execution agents. The acquisition will embed its capabilities into project44’s platform to reduce repetitive freight tasks and enable coordinated, real-time execution based on live operational data. This marks project44’s second strategic AI acquisition, following ClearMetal in 2021.
project44 said artificial intelligence has already transformed its operations, enabling predictive ETAs, improved order-level visibility and the ability to anticipate and respond to supply chain disruptions. With LunaPath, the platform is expected to move beyond intelligence to autonomous, real-time action.
The company evaluated eight AI agent providers over 16 months in live supply chain environments, with LunaPath delivering strong performance in high-volume voice and messaging execution. It also showed strong integration within project44’s Decision Intelligence Platform, joining partners such as Vooma and HappyRobot in its AI ecosystem.
Jett McCandless, founder and CEO of project44, said LunaPath brings execution capability into its orchestration vision, allowing specialised agents to work together as one system while combining real-time action with domain expertise.
The acquisition strengthens project44’s context-based AI by combining LunaPath’s agents with its logistics data graph, which integrates data from multiple systems into a single model of freight movement. This allows AI agents to understand what is happening, why it matters and what action is required.
Joshua Moss, Global Supply Chain Centre of Excellence Manager, said project44’s AI capabilities have improved visibility across carrier networks and enabled expansion into the APAC region with reduced operational complexity.
project44 noted that many AI solutions in supply chains fail due to a lack of context, as logistics data is often spread across disconnected systems. Its data graph aims to address this by unifying systems, partners and events into a single framework.
Within this framework, LunaPath’s agents operate across orchestration and execution layers, managing tasks such as carrier check calls, proof-of-delivery retrieval, claims initiation and appointment confirmations without human intervention. Using live shipment data and historical patterns, the agents can prioritise, escalate and resolve exceptions.
The acquisition also supports project44’s multi-vendor AI Agent Orchestration strategy, which coordinates specialised agents through a central layer powered by its data graph rather than relying on a single provider. This allows customers to deploy agents for specific use cases while maintaining unified control and analytics.
Jonathan Scherr, Chief Strategy and Operations Officer at project44, said the company’s supply chain graph enables AI agents to act with precision, while LunaPath adds real-time execution to turn intelligence into action.
Abhishek Porwal, founder of LunaPath, said the partnership enables AI to move beyond recommendations to executing tasks with better timing and understanding.
project44 said its platform connects over 1.5 billion shipments annually for more than 1,000 brands across industries including manufacturing, automotive, retail and energy, while LunaPath provides execution tools designed to automate operational workflows and reduce inefficiencies in supply chains.
