Lufthansa Cargo transported a European orchestra’s instruments from the United States to Germany following the final leg of its US East Coast tour, covering cities from Boston to Naples.

The orchestra concluded its tour with a performance of works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonín Dvořák on 12 March in Orlando. Shortly after 3am on 13 March, the instruments were delivered to Miami Airport for uplift.

A total of 105 instruments and equipment pieces, weighing 8,888 kg and occupying 70 cubic metres, were prepared for transport. The shipment was covered with reflective foil designed to provide protection from sunlight during handling and transit.

All items were loaded onto flight LH461, which operated despite strike disruptions affecting operations at the time. The movement required coordination between logistics partners and handling teams.

The operation involved support from UTC Overseas, Inc. and Alonso Forwarding Holding, alongside Lufthansa Cargo’s specialised teams. The shipment arrived in Munich, where the musicians were reunited with their instruments shortly after arrival.

The orchestra resumed its schedule with a performance in Vienna on 18 March following the delivery.
