IAG Cargo adds Madrid-Monterrey route to Latin America network
The new three-times-weekly Madrid-Monterrey service will begin on June 2, 2026, marking the first direct cargo connection operated by the carrier between Spain and Northern Mexico.
IAG Cargo will launch new services from Madrid to Monterrey and from Barcelona to Lima in June as the carrier expands its network between Europe and Latin America.
The cargo division of International Airlines Group said the new three-times-weekly Madrid-Monterrey service will begin on June 2, 2026, marking the first direct cargo connection operated by the carrier between Spain and Northern Mexico.
The new route is expected to strengthen trade flows between Europe and one of Mexico’s manufacturing centres. Monterrey has a concentration of automotive, aerospace and high-technology industries and has emerged as a key location for nearshoring activity linked to North America.
IAG Cargo said the Madrid-Monterrey route forms part of its wider summer schedule, which includes 275 weekly widebody connections from its Spanish hubs to destinations across North America, Latin America and the Caribbean.
The company will also launch a three-times-weekly service between Barcelona and Lima from June 3. The route is expected to support cargo flows between Spain and Peru, including perishables, pharmaceuticals and other high-value shipments.
Camilo Garcia Cervera, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, IAG Cargo, said, 'Latin America remains one of the most important regions in global air cargo, with strong and diverse trade flows connecting producers, manufacturers and consumers across continents.' These new routes from Madrid and Barcelona expand the reach of our Spanish hubs and reinforce the role of Spain as a key gateway for cargo moving between the region and Europe. The new Madrid-Monterrey service in particular creates a direct link for the first time, supporting trade flows between Europe and Northern Mexico.”
Through its hubs in London, Madrid, Dublin and Barcelona, IAG Cargo operates cargo services across six continents. The company said London offers capacity on more than 700 weekly widebody services, while Dublin handles around 100 weekly widebody rotations connecting transatlantic markets.
Alongside the network expansion, IAG Cargo said it continues to develop specialist transportation products, including its recently introduced aircraft-on-ground service designed for the movement of aircraft parts requiring urgent delivery.
