Hactl renews HKIA cargo handling franchise
Hactl has extended its cargo handling franchise at Hong Kong International Airport until 2043, reinforcing its long-term commitment to Hong Kong's air cargo sector.
Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals (Hactl) has secured a 15-year extension of its cargo handling franchise at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) under a new agreement with the Airport Authority Hong Kong.
The renewed franchise will take effect in July 2028, following the expiry of the current agreement, and will remain in force until 2043. The extension ensures Hactl's continued role as the largest independent air cargo terminal operator at HKIA.
Under the new agreement, Hactl will continue to support Hong Kong's position as a leading global aviation and air cargo hub by delivering efficient, high-quality, and future-ready cargo handling services.
Frosti Lau, Chief Executive of Hactl, said, “The signing of this new agreement marks an important milestone for Hactl, underscoring our commitment to Hong Kong and our global outlook, while reaffirming our long-term support for the city’s air cargo industry.
He added, “We will continue to invest heavily, with at least HKD 1 billion allocated to modernising infrastructure, deploying new technologies, and further embedding ESG principles into every facet of our operations ensuring superior services while driving sustainable development”.
Hactl expressed confidence in the long-term growth of Hong Kong's air cargo sector, citing the completion of the Three-Runway System, including the third runway and Terminal 2, along with strong government support. The company said it will continue investing in innovation and sustainability to support Hong Kong's role as an international aviation hub under the National 15th Five-Year Plan and strengthen air cargo's contribution to the city's economy.
