Global GSA Group backs Azul’s A321 freighter expansion

Global GSA Group has expanded its partnership with Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras to support the Brazilian carrier’s next phase of cargo growth as it adds four Airbus A321 Freighter aircraft to its fleet.

The additional freighters will strengthen Azul Logistica’s operations from its Viracopos International Airport hub, helping meet rising cargo demand across Brazil and the Americas while expanding key domestic and international routes.

Under the expanded agreement, Global GSA Group will continue to provide commercial support aimed at maximising cargo capacity and optimising the performance of Azul’s enlarged freighter fleet. The move is expected to enhance Azul Logistica’s ability to serve growing e-commerce, industrial, and regional cargo markets throughout its domestic and intra-American network.

Aytekin Saray, Chief Executive Officer of Global GSA Group, said, “Azul already operates over 800 domestic flights per day and handles more than 100,000 shipments each day. With four new freighters soon being delivered, we will be able to optimise Azul Logistica’s operations using data analytics and other CargoTech software solutions to determine sustainable strategies for certain key routes currently operating at peak, while supporting business development, market expertise, and regional coordination across Latin America.”

The airline’s network includes twice-daily domestic services to Manaus (MAO) and scheduled flights to Belem (BEL), alongside a growing portfolio of carefully selected international routes. Services to Santiago (SCL) and Buenos Aires (EZE) are already operational, while routes to Lima (LIM) and Montevideo (MVD) are planned for launch. In addition to its scheduled network, Azul operates charter flights for specialised projects, including the transport of hatching eggs and audio equipment for touring bands.

Izabel Reis, Director of Azul Logistica, said, “Our success story with the Airbus 321 freighter kicked off with the celebration of the first aircraft delivery at Campinas Airport last year, and Global GSA Group’s market knowledge and network soon generated excellent load factors on its initial routes.”

Reis said the Airbus A321 freighter offers the right combination of versatility and capacity, enabling the airline to respond more effectively to market demand. The carrier has therefore decided to expand and modernise its fleet with four additional A321 freighters, which will replace its Boeing 737F aircraft. The move is expected to improve operational sustainability while significantly increasing Azul’s intra-Latin American cargo capacity, with continued commercial support from Global GSA Group.

Azul Logistica is also planning to launch weekly services between Campinas and Lima via Viracopos International Airport in the second half of 2026, deploying its newly acquired Airbus A321 Freighter aircraft on the route. Saray explains that Lima is a strategically important addition to its network, citing strong demand from Europe and robust cargo flows from Peru to domestic Brazil through its Viracopos International Airport hub.
