FedEx helps APAC exporters prepare for new US CPSC e-filing rules
FedEx has introduced digital tools, expert support and customer guidance to help APAC businesses comply with mandatory US CPSC e-filing rules from July 8.
FedEx is helping businesses across Asia Pacific prepare for new US product safety filing requirements that will become mandatory on July 8, 2026. The company has introduced digital tools, customer support and guidance to help exporters meet the new rules and avoid delays to shipments.
Under the new requirement, all US importers of Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)-regulated products must electronically submit product safety information when goods enter the United States. Importers can also register products in the CPSC Product Registry and submit a shorter set of information. As a result, exporters in Asia Pacific will need to provide product details before shipments are sent.
To help customers prepare, FedEx organised customer webinars across 12 Asia Pacific markets, reaching more than 5,000 participants. The sessions explained how businesses can identify regulated products, collect the required information and prepare for the new filing process.
FedEx said many businesses are still not ready for the changes. According to feedback collected after the webinars, 64% of APAC businesses shipping consumer products to the United States have not yet prepared for the new requirements. Among them, 28% understand the rules but have not taken any action, while 18% expect major disruption to their US-bound shipments. Although 36% said they have made some preparations, only 15% are fully ready.
Businesses that fail to meet the new requirements could face customs clearance delays, penalties or even have their shipments refused entry into the United States. FedEx also noted that registration in the CPSC Product Registry can take up to six months.
The survey also found that businesses need more support in identifying products covered by the new rules. Many are also looking for digital tools to check data before submission and simpler guidance on product scope, registration and documentation.
The most requested forms of support were centralised resources with regulatory updates, integrated tools to simplify documentation and compliance, and access to customs and trade experts.
"Changes of this scale can introduce complexity for businesses operating across borders," said Salil Chari, President, Asia Pacific, FedEx. "Our focus is on making compliance straightforward for customers, so they can continue to move goods seamlessly while meeting new standards with confidence."
FedEx has added CPSC e-filing capabilities to its digital shipping platforms, including FedEx Ship Manager and FedEx API. These tools allow customers to submit compliance information as part of their normal shipping process. The company has also introduced step-by-step guidance, direct customer support and access to trade compliance specialists to help businesses meet the new requirements.
The findings are based on customer webinars held by FedEx in April and May 2026 across 12 Asia Pacific markets. More than 5,000 customers attended the sessions, and over 500 businesses responded to the survey.
