Emirates SkyCargo expands freight services to Copenhagen
The airline will provide tailored solutions for the transportation of goods, including pharmaceuticals and perishables.;
Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of Emirates, has announced the introduction of a dedicated weekly freighter service to Copenhagen Airport, effective January 1, 2025.
This move is in response to growing demand for air cargo services out of Denmark. The Boeing 777 freighter will operate on Wednesdays, providing approximately 85 tonnes of cargo capacity to customers in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. This significant increase in capacity is expected to support the growth of pharmaceutical exports from Denmark, which has seen a surge in demand over the past year.
Emirates SkyCargo has recorded a 20% increase in cargo volume from Denmark in the last financial year, driven largely by pharmaceutical shipments. Copenhagen's thriving life sciences production industry and robust cold chain infrastructure make it an ideal hub for pharma logistics in Northern Europe. The airline's dedicated freighter service will provide tailored solutions for the transportation of goods, including pharmaceuticals, perishables, and general cargo.
Emirates SkyCargo's extensive global network and fit-for-purpose pharmaceutical product portfolio will enable Danish exporters to reach a wider audience. Mette Jensen, Cargo Manager for Scandinavia at Emirates SkyCargo, stated, “Bolstering our operations to Copenhagen with a dedicated freighter ensures that we are able to serve the current demand and support our customers in reaching a large number of markets across the globe.”
Emirates SkyCargo operates 38 dedicated freighter flights per week to 11 destinations in Europe, complemented by over 485 passenger flights every week. This makes Europe one of the airline's busiest destinations.
The new freighter service will operate as follows:
EK9746: Arrival in Copenhagen Airport on Wednesdays at 12:35 AM CET (5:05 AM IST), departing for Dubai World Central at 15:05 PM CET (7:35 PM IST).
