CHAMP names Gianluca Marcangelo to lead shift to Cargospot neo
He will guide airlines worldwide through digital transformation using CHAMP’s latest technologies and support customer innovation.;
CHAMP Cargosystems has appointed Gianluca Marcangelo as Vice President, Neo Program Engagement, to lead global customer transformation and advance the adoption of its next-generation cargo management solution, Cargospot neo.
The company said Marcangelo will oversee customer engagement and support airlines as they move to the new digital system. His role will ensure CHAMP’s worldwide airline community uses the latest technologies available across its digital portfolio.
Marcangelo has over 25 years of experience in airfreight and logistics. He began his career in 1998 with a US-based freight forwarder. Two years later, he joined the Global GSA Group in Italy as Head of Sales & Operations for its Milan branch, managing more than 15 airlines and several global key accounts.
In 2015, he moved to Oman Air’s Head Office, where he worked first as Manager, Customer Service, and later as Manager, Special Products Development and Digital Innovation. During this time, he helped develop community initiatives for IATA CEIV Pharma and Fresh certification, and implemented the IATA eAWB programme. He also contributed to major projects for the Oman Aviation Group, including a new cargo terminal and a joint venture with SATS.
In 2021, Marcangelo joined the Challenge Group in Liège as Senior Manager Vertical Operations & Cargo Transformation. He later became Head of Industry Relations and Marketing at the Group’s headquarters in Malta. He has taken part in several industry working groups and global forums, including the TIACA Executive Summit, IATA WCS, CNS Conference and Cargo Facts EMEA.
Nicholas Xenocostas, Chief Commercial Officer at CHAMP, said Marcangelo’s deep industry expertise and focus on innovation make him the right leader to push the Neo Programme ahead.
