GEODIS has announced the opening of a temperature-controlled pharmaceutical warehouse in Manchester as the company expands its healthcare logistics operations in the UK and Ireland. The facility, which is scheduled to become operational on June 1, 2026, has been developed to support inventory management and cross-docking operations for pharmaceutical and healthcare customers.

The warehouse is located close to Manchester Airport and near the M6 and M62 transport corridors, positioning it to support domestic distribution as well as international air freight connectivity. The company said the site strengthens its capabilities in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector, where demand for temperature-sensitive logistics services continues to increase.

The facility will provide 2,000 pallet positions and has been designed to handle pharmaceutical products that require controlled storage conditions and regulatory compliance. GEODIS said the warehouse will include dedicated short-term storage areas maintained at controlled room temperatures between 15°C and 25°C, as well as chilled storage environments ranging from 2°C to 8°C. The site also has the capability to introduce frozen storage if required.

The warehouse will include designated returns areas and continuous temperature monitoring systems supported by round-the-clock alerts to maintain product integrity during storage and distribution operations. GEODIS said the facility is intended to support both short-term inventory holding and onwards distribution requirements for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

“This new facility allows us to provide a highly reliable end-to-end solution for temperature-sensitive healthcare products,” said Paul Morris, Head of Pharma & Healthcare Vertical for GEODIS in the UK. “With advanced monitoring systems, robust compliance standards and strong connectivity across the UK, we are well positioned to support pharmaceutical and biotech companies with safe, efficient, and scalable logistics solutions.”

Operations at the site will be managed through a validated warehouse management system that includes barcode scanning, batch traceability, audit trails and real-time inventory visibility. The company stated that these systems aim to guarantee compliance, transparency, and operational efficiency in supply chain operations, encompassing both inventory storage and distribution flows.

GEODIS stated that the Manchester warehouse complies with pharmaceutical and logistics industry standards, including GDP and WDA requirements. The site also holds certifications including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, TAPA, AEO and Dangerous Goods certifications.

The company added that sustainability measures have been integrated into the warehouse design, including energy-efficient refrigeration systems, LED lighting and waste reduction initiatives.
