FedEx Corp. announced on May 20, 2025, in Miami, Florida, that it has become the first global integrator to receive the IATA CEIV Pharma Corporate Certification across its air hubs and ramps. The certification was awarded at the 34th CNS Partnership Conference by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

It recognises the ability of the FedEx Global Healthcare Quality Programme to meet the strict requirements of pharmaceutical logistics. “This certification illustrates FedEx’s unwavering dedication to excellence in pharmaceutical logistics,” said Nick Gennari, president of global healthcare and commercial sales. “With over 90 per cent of our global healthcare volume moving through facilities that are now CEIV Pharma-certified, we are providing our customers with outstanding quality solutions in the global pharma air space.”

The CEIV Pharma Certification, issued by the Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators, is a globally recognised standard for the secure, compliant, and time-sensitive transport of pharmaceutical shipments. It addresses the need for consistent and trusted handling practises in the complex pharmaceutical supply chain.

“The pharmaceutical industry relies on air transport for its speed and efficiency in ensuring high-value, time-sensitive, temperature-controlled products such as vaccines or medication. As global supply chains become more complex, the need for consistent, trusted standards is greater than ever for the safety of the end consumers,” said Frederic Leger, IATA’s senior vice president of commercial products and services.

FedEx had previously secured CEIV Pharma certification for its hubs in Memphis and Indianapolis in 2024, along with ramps in San Juan and Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. In 2025, the company added 15 more certified facilities to its network. These include locations in Cologne, Fort Worth, Frankfurt, Greensboro, Guangzhou, Liege, Los Angeles, Miami, Milan, Newark, Oakland, Osaka, Paris, San Jose, and Santo Domingo. All these sites will receive their official certifications in May 2025.
