Swiss WorldCargo, the airfreight division of the Swiss International Air Lines, has successfully transported over fourteen tonnes of Covid-19 vaccines to Sao Paulo on December 18. The SWISS aircraft carrying the finished vaccines on flight LX 96 from Zurich to São Paulo had departed on the evening of December 17 to the Brazilian city after the shipment had been previously transported from Beijing to Zurich.

The special cargo was carried in ten Envirotainer RAP-e2 containers, which kept the temperature consistently cooled within a range of 2°C - 8°C. Together with forwarding partner PGL Brazil, Swiss WorldCargo carried out the shipment on behalf of the Brazilian Butantan institute. Upon arrival, the aircraft was welcomed by several prominent government officials, including João Doria, the Governor of São Paulo. The total shipment carried close to two million doses of finished Covid-19 vaccines.

This successful collaboration and transport further underlined Swiss WorldCargo’s long-standing expertise in complex pharmaceutical transportation.
