WFS, GEODIS extend partnership with Brussels Airport contract
The agreement will see WFS provide freight forwarder handling services for the global logistics and supply chain solutions provider at one of Europe’s key air cargo gateways.

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a SATS company, has secured a five-year contract with GEODIS at Brussels Airport, expanding a partnership that already includes cargo handling operations at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. The agreement will see WFS provide freight forwarder handling services for the global logistics and supply chain solutions provider at one of Europe’s key air cargo gateways.
The contract marks the latest addition to WFS’ E-commerce & Freight Forwarder Handling (EFFH) portfolio, which is now available at airports including Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Frankfurt, Liege, Madrid and Stockholm, alongside 12 locations across France, including Paris CDG. The services cover a range of cargo preparation and handling functions, including making shipments ready-for-carriage, recording weight and cargo dimensions, crating, repacking, security screening, consolidation, shipment labelling and transportation between freight forwarders and handling agents.
The EFFH offering also includes import deconsolidation, shipment sorting, preparation for customs clearance and onwards road transportation. These services are designed to support freight forwarders in streamlining cargo processing and managing fluctuating operational requirements.
The Brussels agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two companies. GEODIS has been using WFS for import and export cargo handling services at Paris CDG since 2021. Under the new contract, GEODIS has transferred all of its freight consolidation and deconsolidation activities at Brussels Airport to WFS.
The move is expected to provide GEODIS customers with access to a 24-hour operation while also giving the logistics provider greater flexibility in managing labour resources and operational costs. WFS’ pharmaceutical handling capabilities were also a factor in the agreement. The company operates a GDP-certified facility at Brussels Airport featuring two cool rooms and 300 square metres of dedicated temperature-controlled handling space for pharmaceutical cargo.
The capability aligns with GEODIS’ position in Belgium’s pharmaceutical logistics sector, where temperature-controlled handling and regulatory compliance remain important requirements for customers moving healthcare products through air cargo supply chains.
Commenting on the agreement, Philippe Torry, Managing Director Belgium at WFS, said: “We welcome this opportunity to extend our partnership with GEODIS to another major European cargo airport in the WFS network. As well as our proven handling expertise, modern facilities, and ability to support specialised products, WFS will provide GEODIS with real-time visibility and information exchange, including all operational documentation, timestamps, and images to demonstrate its high service standards are being consistently delivered and to provide further growth opportunities with existing and new customers.”
The contract will also see WFS provide operational visibility tools that allow the exchange of documentation, shipment information, timestamps and image-based records. The company said these capabilities are intended to support service monitoring and customer growth opportunities through greater transparency across cargo handling processes.
Jean-Baptiste Elslander, Deputy Managing Director at GEODIS in Belgium, said the transition to the new operating model was supported by close collaboration between both companies. “Both teams took a hands-on approach during the implementation phase, driving a seamless and efficient transition. WFS is offering flexible solutions and outstanding quality that meet the demands of a highly volatile and competitive market. We look forward to strengthening this partnership and achieving continued success together.”
The agreement reinforces WFS’ strategy of expanding freight forwarder handling services across Europe while strengthening relationships with logistics providers seeking outsourced cargo processing, consolidation and deconsolidation support at major airport hubs.
