In a significant strategic move designed to augment its global network, supply chain solutions leader AIT Worldwide Logistics has formally finalised an agreement to acquire Connor Anderson International (CAI). This landmark acquisition of the Sydney-based global freight forwarder marks a pivotal moment in AIT’s strategic expansion, solidifying its geographic reach and establishing a robust foothold in the lucrative Oceania region.

Established in 1974, CAI has spent half a century building a formidable reputation in the Australian logistics sector. The company provides a comprehensive suite of supply chain support services, which encompasses sea, air, and road transport, alongside warehousing, customs brokerage, and complex project cargo management. Over the decades, CAI has successfully cultivated a diverse portfolio of clients across a wide array of demanding industries, ensuring goods flow seamlessly across both domestic and international borders.

A particularly notable aspect of CAI’s operational strength lies in its highly experienced and long-tenured team. This group of seasoned professionals is uniquely adept at managing a broad spectrum of specialised cargo. In recent years, the firm has increasingly pivoted towards providing distinctive, high-end logistical services tailored specifically for technology companies that serve both the Australian domestic market and the broader Oceania territories.

The integration of CAI is strategically timed to bolster AIT’s specialised service offerings for shippers within the rapidly expanding technology industry. As the demand for artificial intelligence accelerates globally, tech firms require world-class, highly secure logistics support to transport critical infrastructure. This includes the safe and efficient delivery of cloud computing components and other high-value, high-touch equipment that are essential to enabling advanced artificial intelligence functions and maintaining modern data centres across the region.

“Global transportation logistics is increasingly complex, and AIT remains focused on developing reliable, customized supply chain solutions with the scope, flexibility and scalability to serve our customers’ critical growth initiatives,” said AIT’s Chief Development Officer, Ray Fennelly. “This acquisition, and the rapid integration that will follow, demonstrates our strategic response to customers in the region and serves as the foundation for AIT’s long-term expansion to serve Oceania more broadly.”

Navigating the notoriously strict regulatory environment of Australian imports requires specialised expertise, especially given the nation's stringent border security and customs protocols. In this regard, CAI brings a crucial asset to the table. The firm boasts an experienced customs brokerage team, providing an essential service that dramatically streamlines the complex importation process for international businesses.

“CAI also features an experienced customs brokerage team, an uncommon, value-added aspect that guarantees full service, in-house support for clients with inbound shipments to Australia,” Fennelly added. “CAI and AIT have a longstanding collaborative relationship dating back to 2011. Ultimately, CAI’s addition will help our customers scale faster in Oceania and execute complex projects with confidence in key industries like aerospace, automotive and technology.”

The synergy between the two global logistics organisations is built upon a solid foundation of shared business philosophies and a documented history of mutual cooperation over the past decade. By officially combining forces under a unified banner, both corporate entities anticipate unlocking new operational efficiencies and significantly enhancing the overall supply chain experience for their respective customer bases.

“For more than 50 years, Connor Anderson International has put customers first and developed relationships that stand the test of time,” said CAI’s Director, Theo Pambris. “We recognize those same core values in AIT, which make our teams incredibly compatible. By joining our global networks, we’re offering our customers broader capabilities and worldwide support, while maintaining the level of personal service they’ve come to expect from CAI.”

In addition to its primary headquarters and main operational facility located in Sydney, CAI maintains a significant physical presence in Victoria, operating a second fully equipped office and modern warehousing facility in Melbourne. This dual-city infrastructure ensures comprehensive coverage of Australia’s most vital economic and manufacturing hubs, thereby facilitating much more efficient distribution and supply chain management across the vast continent. Financial terms of the acquisition agreement have not been publicly disclosed. Nevertheless, industry analysts suggest that this highly targeted investment will substantially increase AIT’s high-tech logistics capabilities and firmly secure its competitive advantage within the fast-paced Asia-Pacific supply chain ecosystem.
