Yusen Logistics Global Management, a subsidiary of the NYK Group, has announced that its European arm, Yusen Logistics (Europe) B.V. (YLEU), has agreed to acquire the healthcare logistics business of the Walden Group. This will be done through the purchase of the entire share capital of Movianto International B.V. (Movianto), according to an official release from NYK Group.

The acquisition process has begun with YLEU and Walden Group International Holding B.V. (Walden) signing a Put Option Agreement. Following the required consultations with relevant works councils mandatory under European law, the two companies will enter into a Share Purchase Agreement.

Subject to regulatory approvals, Movianto will become a wholly owned subsidiary of YLEU upon completion of the transaction.

The healthcare logistics business of the Walden Group includes Movianto, Eurotranspharma, Transpharma International, and Walden Digital. Focused exclusively on the healthcare sector, the business offers a comprehensive range of services, contract logistics, fourth-party logistics (4PL), first-mile transportation, and distribution, operating from 138 locations across 12 European countries.

Walden Digital supports these operations with advanced technological solutions, including a robust end-to-end supply chain visibility platform that enhances the group’s logistics and temperature-controlled transport capabilities.

Yusen Logistics Group has positioned healthcare logistics as a key growth area and has been strengthening its capabilities in medical and pharmaceutical logistics globally through its group companies.

With the Walden healthcare operations joining the Yusen Logistics Group through this acquisition, not only will the scale of the healthcare logistics business in Europe dramatically increase, but the combination of its expertise and Yusen Logistics Group’s global network will also enable the provision of higher value-added services to a broader market, the release added.

NYK has identified logistics as a core business segment in its medium-term management plan announced in March 2023. This latest acquisition follows the purchase of a UK-based e-commerce logistics platform in February 2024 and an auto parts logistics company in the Netherlands in April 2024, further expanding its service portfolio and reinforcing its global logistics foundation.

Movianto, headquartered in Oss, Netherlands, reported revenue of approximately EUR 790 million (JPY 134 billion) in 2024 and employs around 5,400 people. The purchase price for the transaction is approximately EUR 1.25 billion (JPY 210 billion).
