DACHSER has announced a key leadership change in its Air & Sea Logistics EMEA business unit. Effective October 1, Alexander Winter will assume the role of Managing Director, succeeding Marc Meier, who is set to leave the company at the end of September.

Winter, 53, from Austria, brings over two decades of logistics leadership experience. He began his career with DB Schenker in 1999, now part of DSV, where he held various senior management positions with a focus on sea freight and contract logistics. Since 2018, he has served as CEO for Austria and the Southeast Europe region, overseeing air and sea freight, road transport, and contract logistics operations. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth and expanding its regional footprint.

At DACHSER, Winter will report directly to Dr. Tobias Burger, COO Air & Sea Logistics. Commenting on the appointment, Dr. Burger said, “With Alexander Winter, we have gained a leader with extensive experience in the international logistics business. He has proven throughout his career that he can develop local markets in a customer-oriented manner and set them up to be operationally efficient.”

The move comes at a critical time for DACHSER’s air and sea freight strategy in Europe. The company aims to strengthen its integrated end-to-end logistics offering, combining global transport solutions with its strong European groupage network. Burkhard Eling, CEO of DACHSER, added, “In our core markets of Europe, we need a strong air and sea freight organization that drives growth with globally integrated end-to-end transport and contract logistics. With his extensive experience, Alexander Winter is well positioned to take this connection to a new level.”

This appointment underscores DACHSER’s continued investment in building leadership that can bridge global freight operations with regional growth strategies.
