Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has announced the appointment of industry veteran Jan Bierewirtz as the new Head of Sales E-Commerce. The move signals a push by the global logistics provider to scale its international market presence, specifically through the launch of its highly cross-border solution, ‘near’.

Starting in February, Bierewirtz will oversee the market entry and positioning of ‘near’, a product born from a 2025 partnership between Hellmann and SkyNet Worldwide Express.

Bierewirtz's career spans over two decades, showcasing extensive experience in developing and marketing cross-border shipping solutions and a deep understanding of the global supply chain. His trajectory includes key roles at OOCL Logistics and Kerry Logistics from 2002 to 2009, followed by managing strategic procurement for the Otto Group between 2009 and 2011.

He then had a long tenure at Hermes Germany from 2011 to 2023, where he ultimately served as General Manager of Hermes BorderGuru. Before his most recent position as SVP International Sales at Österreichische Post AG in 2025, he was the Managing Director of SkyNet Worldwide Express GmbH from 2023 to 2025.

The ‘near’ product is designed as a comprehensive end-to-end service connecting manufacturers and retailers with global consumers. The solution is specifically tailored for the fashion and consumer goods sectors, as well as D2C brands and online marketplaces.

The service covers the entire e-commerce logistics chain, beginning with strategic warehousing and efficient fulfillment, including storage and picking. This is followed by robust B2C delivery services, offering international last-mile shipping solutions. The service also manages the complexities of global e-commerce with simplified returns management and efficient inventory re-integration through its re-fulfillment process.

Martin Habisreitinger, COO Airfreight at Hellmann said, "In times of geopolitical upheaval and shifting customs regulations, cross-border logistics is no longer just about reach. It has become a strategic element for companies to increase supply chain flexibility and navigate fluctuating global demand."
