Rhenus Group expands Asia Pacific road freight network
Rhenus is expanding its road freight network to strengthen the cross-border trucking and is integrating multimodal services to meet the rising regional demand.
Rhenus Group has decided to strengthen its road freight services across the Asia Pacific after the demand for road freight services has increased. The global logistics provider is planning to expand its road freight operations within the region, under the broader strategy to enhance cross-border trucking between Southeast Asia and Greater China, while integrating road with air and ocean services to meet growing regional demand.
As part of its expansion, Rhenus is investing in local capabilities to meet specific market needs, including the recent launch of its Bukit Kayu Hitam Border Office in Malaysia, equipped with full customs services to facilitate smoother cross-border operations.
Prem Anand Anandaverl, Regional Director of Cross-Border Trucking Asia at Rhenus Logistics, said, "Our goal is to provide a seamless connectivity to the global network by reinforcing a comprehensive road freight service and continuing to help businesses to move their goods across Asia efficiently and compliantly. Road Freight is playing an increasingly important role in building a resilient supply chain, especially in this region."
The global freight trucking market is expected to reach $2.74 trillion in 2025 and grow to $3.70 trillion by 2032, at a CAGR of 3.9%. Asia Pacific continues to drive this growth, supported by rising industrial output, a large consumer base, and rapidly improving logistics infrastructure that facilitates both domestic and cross-border trade.
With over 150 owned and partner road freight locations across Europe, Rhenus operates in more than 15 countries through a strong network. Its expansion in the Asia Pacific will further integrate end-to-end supply chain solutions, combining road with air and ocean freight to offer more flexible and tailored logistics services globally.
The company is also investing in multilingual local teams, dedicated border infrastructure, and advanced transport management systems to enable smoother cross-border operations and strengthen customs expertise.
By leveraging rail links between Greater China and Europe, along with a multimodal network spanning sea, land, and rail, Rhenus aims to enhance flexibility and scalability for customers. At the same time, it is working with partners to improve CO₂ tracking and explore alternative fuels to support more sustainable road freight operations.
