Qatar Airways Cargo has resumed freighter and belly-hold operations to Iraq, according to its latest published schedule, marking the return of cargo connectivity between Doha and Baghdad. The move reflects a phased restoration of services, with cargo sales now open for shipments on the Doha to Baghdad route.

The carrier will introduce a weekly Boeing 777 freighter service to Baghdad effective 7 May. This will be followed by the launch of twice weekly passenger flights on the same route from 10 May, adding belly-hold cargo capacity alongside dedicated freighter operations.

With both freighter and passenger services in place, the airline will offer a combined cargo capacity of more than 115 tonnes from Doha to Baghdad starting 10 May. The addition is expected to support cargo flows between the two markets through a mix of scheduled freighter uplift and passenger aircraft capacity.

Qatar Airways Cargo stated that its freighter network has expanded to over 60 destinations as of 1 May. The passenger network, which provides belly-hold capacity, is also set to grow further, reaching more than 150 destinations from 16 June as the airline continues to scale up operations.

All cargo products are now available for booking through standard sales channels, including the Digital Lounge and local Qatar Airways Cargo sales teams. The airline confirmed that capacity is open for customer bookings, and customers with shipment-specific enquiries are encouraged to contact cargohelp@qatarairways.com.qa or their local sales representatives.

The resumption of services to Baghdad forms part of Qatar Airways Cargo’s broader network strategy, which combines freighter operations with passenger aircraft capacity to support global cargo demand. The airline operates a fleet of 30 Boeing 777 freighters and more than 230 passenger aircraft, supported by a road feeder network.

Headquartered in Doha, Qatar Airways Cargo connects global markets through its hub at Hamad International Airport. The airline is also the launch customer for the Boeing 777-8F, with deliveries expected in 2027. The aircraft is expected to bring improvements in fuel efficiency and emissions.

Qatar Airways Cargo continues to invest in digitalisation, products, and infrastructure as part of its operational strategy. Through its WeQare programme, the airline supports initiatives across environment, society, economy, and culture, using its network to facilitate humanitarian and environmental efforts.
