Matternet names Sanjay Kotte to board to scale drone delivery platform
Appointment brings DoorDash and J.P. Morgan veteran as company expands partnerships, after 60,000 flights and new NHS and SoftBank Robotics operations.
Matternet has appointed Sanjay Kotte, Chief Commercial Officer of Robinhood Money, to its Board of Directors as the company looks to scale its commercial drone delivery platform across food, retail and healthcare markets.
Kotte previously served as Head of Strategic Partnerships at DoorDash, where he spent nearly seven years signing and scaling global restaurant partnerships that helped grow the company into a leading on-demand delivery platform. According to Matternet, his experience in building enterprise-scale logistics partnerships will support its expansion plans.
“Drone delivery is going mainstream, and the partnerships we build now will help determine who leads the category,” said Andreas Raptopoulos, Founder and CEO of Matternet. “Sanjay brings deep expertise in partnering with national consumer brands and scaling technology-enabled logistics experiences. That expertise will be invaluable as we expand Matternet’s commercial partnerships and establish the company as the leading drone delivery platform.”
Kotte said drone delivery is set to reshape last-mile logistics, adding that Matternet is positioned to lead the shift as an early mover. He said he looks forward to supporting the company’s plans for global delivery growth.
Before his roles at Robinhood and DoorDash, Kotte spent nearly a decade at J.P. Morgan focusing on mergers and acquisitions across consumer and retail, healthcare and technology sectors. He holds a BBA in finance and management from Emory University, along with an MBA and JD from the University of Michigan.
Matternet said the appointment adds strategic and operational depth to its board as it advances its growth plans. The company has completed more than 60,000 commercial flights across eight countries. In the past month, it also announced a partnership with SoftBank Robotics America and launched drone delivery operations for the UK’s National Health Service, linking two hospital campuses in central London through bi-directional aerial routes designed to move critical medical items within minutes.
