Lufthansa Cargo has completed the first phase of its new headquarters at Frankfurt Airport, marking a major step in the wider modernisation of the Lufthansa Cargo Campus. The company expects official building approval in mid-December, after which the first 60 office workspaces in the revitalised building will become operational. Three more construction phases will follow until early 2028, with the second phase due for completion in autumn 2026.

The new 10,000-square-metre office space forms part of a broader plan to modernise the cargo infrastructure at the airport, including the development of a new cargo hub. CEO Ashwin Bhat said the new headquarters represents a commitment to Lufthansa Cargo’s future and its presence in Frankfurt. He added that the modern workspaces will support collaboration, innovation and growth, as well as strengthen the company’s ability to offer reliable and high-quality air freight services worldwide.

With a total investment of 600 million euros, the LCCevo programme is the Lufthansa Group’s largest infrastructure project. By 2030, the existing 330,000-square-metre cargo centre, which includes administrative areas, will be gradually modernised while remaining fully operational. The company aims to operate Europe’s most modern air freight location and further enhance its global competitiveness.

The Lufthansa Cargo Center has run continuously since 1982 and serves as a key hub in global air freight flows. It handles 1.4 million tonnes of freight each year, representing around 80 percent of the company’s worldwide volume. All construction work remains on schedule for completion by 2030, carried out in sections to ensure uninterrupted daily operations. A central feature of the redevelopment is a 42-metre-high high-bay warehouse, set to become one of the tallest buildings at Frankfurt Airport.
