Kuehne+Nagel adds Frankfurt to Inspire air freight rotation
The new routing links major pharma hubs in Chicago and Frankfurt while enhancing transatlantic and Asia-Europe connectivity for time-sensitive cargo.
Kuehne+Nagel has expanded its controlled air freight network by adding Frankfurt to its Inspire aircraft route. This changes the connectivity between North America, Europe and Asia.
The first Inspire flight has arrived in Frankfurt, marking the start of the updated service. The change supports the movement of time-sensitive cargo across these regions.
Under the new weekly schedule, the aircraft now flies from Chicago to Frankfurt and then continues to Atlanta. This links Chicago and Frankfurt, which are centres for pharmaceutical production and distribution, and supports the movement of healthcare shipments.
Frankfurt is one of Europe’s air cargo hubs and handles around 2 million tonnes of freight each year. It plays a role in moving high-value and urgent goods, so its addition to the network improves links between Europe and North America.
The Inspire aircraft is Kuehne+Nagel’s Boeing 747-8 freighter, operated by Atlas Air under a long-term agreement. It is the largest cargo aircraft made by Boeing and can carry about 140 tonnes of freight.
From June 2026, the Inspire route connects Atlanta, Chicago, Frankfurt, Liège, Sharjah and Taipei. The network is used for industries that need fast transport, including pharmaceuticals, aerospace, high-tech goods, semiconductors and cloud infrastructure equipment.
Kuehne+Nagel said Frankfurt is a hub for pharmaceuticals and air cargo, linking local production with global markets. The expanded route gives customers more capacity and global connections for urgent shipments.
The company also said it continues to expand its controlled air freight network, which now includes more than 100 weekly charter flights worldwide.
