Finnair Cargo will insource operations at its Cargo COOL terminal at Helsinki Airport, taking over from Swissport Finland in a business transfer effective 1 January 2027. Around 150 Swissport Finland employees currently operating at the terminal will join Finnair Cargo, retaining their existing employment status.

The move follows Finnair Cargo’s decision not to continue its service agreement with Swissport Finland for warehouse and transport operations, which will run until the end of this year. Gabriela Hiitola, SVP of Finnair Cargo, said the change aims to improve end-to-end processes, operational efficiency, and support future growth.

Warehouse and transport operations for Finnair Cargo were first outsourced in 2009, with Swissport Finland handling them since 2019. Following the transfer, Finnair Cargo’s workforce will more than double from around 110 to over 260 employees.

Finnair Cargo, one of northern Europe’s largest air cargo carriers, is a subsidiary of the passenger airline Finnair. It specialises in transporting temperature-sensitive goods, including seafood, pharmaceuticals, and other perishables. Its Cargo COOL terminal, opened in 2018, is recognised as one of the most modern air cargo facilities in the world.
