FedEx, a U.S.-based global transportation and logistics company, has launched its first direct all-cargo flight from Changi International Airport in Singapore to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport in Anchorage, U.S.
In a LinkedIn post, Kawal Preet, President, Asia Pacific (APAC), FedEx announced the commencement of this operation.
“We’ve launched our first direct all-cargo flight from Singapore to Anchorage, U.S. A milestone that expands our network, enhances service with faster transits for customers in Southeast Asia and strengthens Singapore’s position as a strategic air cargo and logistics hub for the region.”
She stated that this development makes FedEx the sole logistics provider operating a direct, non-stop route from Singapore to the continental U.S.
The new connection between Singapore and Anchorage is operated by a Boeing 777 freighter six times a week. According to data from Flightradar24, the aircraft departs from Singapore at approximately 17:34. The return flight currently operates once a week, with plans to increase frequency later this summer, according to the Changi Airport Group.
“Trade between Southeast Asia and the U.S. represents an important corridor for industries such as e-commerce, high-tech electronics, and manufactured goods. As global supply chains evolve, we remain focused on building the infrastructure and solutions that keep businesses agile and connected,” Preet adds.
FedEx has recently reached agreements to purchase eight new Boeing 777 freighter aircraft and two used 777 freighters, which will be phased in during calendar years 2026 and 2027. The airline currently operates a substantial fleet of 471 aircraft. It also reported a 2% increase in revenue, reaching $22.2 billion for the third quarter ending February 28, 2025, while net income declined to $0.91 billion, down from $1.09 billion during the same period last fiscal year.
The commencement of this service is also significant, as the latest data for the year 2024 from Airports Council International (ACI) World ranks Anchorage International Airport as the fourth busiest in the world in terms of cargo traffic, following Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Memphis. The airport handled 3,699,284 tonnes of cargo in 2024.
Meanwhile, in 2024, Changi Airport Group handled nearly 2 million tonnes of air cargo, reflecting a 15% year-on-year increase from 2023.
