Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), a joint venture between ST Engineering and Airbus, has announced that it has signed an agreement with Confity Capital Partners (Confity), a growth equity and investment firm based in the UAE, for a multi-aircraft order under its Airbus A330 Passenger-to-Freighter (P2F) programme, according to an official release from EFW.
This order marks the beginning of a new partnership between Confity and EFW, aimed at introducing EFW’s widebody Airbus P2F solution to operators in India, supporting the rapidly growing freight market in the subcontinent, as well as catering to global customers in other emerging markets, the release added.
The A330P2F conversions for Confity will begin at the end of 2025, taking place at EFW’s facility in Dresden, Germany, as well as at its partner conversion sites worldwide. Jet Freight Logistics, a listed Mumbai-based cargo service provider with over four decades of experience, will be the launch customer and the first Indian cargo airline to operate the widebody Airbus A330 P2F platform.
EFW’s strategic move into India follows the successful introduction of its standard-body A321P2F and A320P2F freighter aircraft to the market in 2022.
“We are excited to enter into this strategic partnership with Confity to jointly provide new-generation Airbus converted widebody freighters to the Indian air cargo market,” says Lee London, SVP Marketing & Sales, EFW. “Driven by e-commerce, domestic consumption, rising exports and infrastructure improvements, India's air cargo market is expected to grow rapidly and hit record volumes in the years to come. Our Airbus P2F programmes can serve as a strong enabler in this trajectory, helping Indian operators and the cargo market maintain their upward momentum with proven aircraft freighter solutions.”
“We are delighted to join forces with EFW on this multi-aircraft A330 P2F conversion programme,” says Sia Ashok, Managing Partner at Confity. “This collaboration is a strategic step forward in our mission to build future-ready cargo infrastructure, driven by demand for efficient widebody freighter capacity across emerging and established markets. The A330 platform aligns perfectly with our investment thesis, combining operational versatility with long-term asset value. We look forward to delivering impactful outcomes for our partners, stakeholders and the global aviation ecosystem.”
“For us at Confity Capital Partners, after identifying the need and the possible partners, it was imperative to partner with the leading technical experts of this field. From a broader view, having EFW experts partner with us on this project is a major technical risk reduction, as they have proven their capabilities. We can also say we are already looking beyond this project and have additional plans for cooperation in the near future,” says Amit Baum, Senior Partner at Confity.
The A330-300P2F offers a gross payload of up to 62 tonnes and a containerised volume of up to 18,581 cubic feet, bringing an innovative level of efficiency with up to 23% more cargo volume than other freighter aircraft in the same class. The A330-200P2F can carry a gross payload of up to 60 tonnes for more than 7,700 km, the release added.
