CargoLand by LGG unveils renovated Vet Center for live animal care
The upgraded facility strengthens veterinary inspections and quarantine, ensuring safe, compliant transport of live animals.
CargoLand by LGG has officially opened its newly renovated Vet Center, a facility dedicated to the veterinary inspection and quarantine of live animals passing through the airport. The centre is a key control point in the airport’s live animal logistics chain, ensuring that all animals comply with health and biosecurity regulations.
The upgraded Vet Center features fully equipped inspection zones and a separate quarantine area, allowing veterinarians to observe or test animals without disrupting ongoing operations. This setup enables multiple consignments to be processed in parallel while maintaining strict biosecurity and operational continuity.
The facility supports the Belgian Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (AFSCA) in conducting thorough sanitary inspections, including health checks, documentation verification, and transport condition assessments. In 2025 alone, the Vet Center handled 3,766 horses, as well as other live shipments such as ornamental fish, insects, and small mammals, reflecting the increasing complexity of live animal logistics at CargoLand by LGG.
Frédéric Brun, Head of Commercial Cargo & Logistics at CargoLand by LGG, said: “The renovation of the Vet Center was driven by very concrete sanitary and operational realities. We are handling increasing volumes and more complex live animal movements. This upgraded infrastructure enables us to strengthen veterinary control capacity and maintain the highest standards of animal health and welfare.”
The Vet Center forms part of CargoLand by LGG’s broader live animal ecosystem, which includes the Horse Inn, a facility capable of accommodating up to 12,000 horses per year in secure, controlled conditions. Together, these facilities reinforce CargoLand by LGG’s role as a leading European hub for the safe, regulated, and welfare-focused transport of live animals.
