Ostend-Bruges International Airport signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport on 28 May 2025 in Chengdu, China. The agreement was made during the “Open Chengdu” Cooperation Forum and aims to strengthen collaboration in air cargo, operations, innovation and other areas.
The deal connects one of Belgium’s key regional airports with Chengdu, a major global cargo hub handling over 1 million tonnes of cargo annually. The agreement is intended to enhance supply chain resilience and improve market access between China and Belgium. Eric Dumas, CEO of Ostend-Bruges Airport, led the initiative.
As part of the broader logistics delegation visit to China, the Ostend-Bruges Airport team joined the Governor of West Flanders on a visit to Juneyao Group in Shanghai. The meeting offered an opportunity to explore future partnerships and deepen ties in logistics and air cargo between Belgium and China.
In a post made on LinkedIn, Dumas stated that this would be his last mission for Ostend Airport before handing over to Nathan de Valck and expressed confidence in the airport’s current upward trajectory towards success.
