In a major milestone, Turkish Cargo has officially finalised a capacity agreement with Norwegian low-cost, long-haul airline Norse Atlantic Airways, enhancing cargo transportation between the United Kingdom, Europe, and the Americas.

“This partnership enhances our ability to provide efficient logistics solutions to our valued business partners. As we continue to grow, we are working closely with our partners to further expand the coverage of our cooperation,” mentioned Turkish Cargo in a Linkedin post.

The official signing ceremony was attended by Ali Türk, Chief Cargo Officer, Turkish Airlines, and Magnus Engström, Cargo Director, Norse Atlantic Airways.

According to data from Planespotters.net, Turkish Cargo operates a fleet of 18 aircraft, including the Boeing 777F and Airbus A330F. The airline also utilises its belly cargo capacity on passenger aircraft and has placed an order for five Airbus A350 freighters, expected to roll out in late 2027.

While Norse Atlantic Airways relies entirely on the belly cargo space of its widebody Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, its only operational fleet, the airline has a total of six aircraft in service, while two are parked, according to data from Planespotters.net.

The Boeing 787-9 can carry up to 12 tonnes of cargo in its belly space.

One of the two parked aircraft, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, is set to join IndiGo’s fleet, becoming the latest addition to India’s largest airline. Registered as LN-FNC (MSN: 38790), the aircraft is listed in ch-aviation's database. IndiGo has damp-leased this B787 from Norse and will deploy it on the Delhi–Bangkok route starting March 1, 2025.

IndiGo previously stated that "the initial term of the agreement is six months, extendable up to 18 months, subject to regulatory approvals."

In addition to this B787-9, IndiGo has signed an agreement to wet lease three more B787-9 aircraft from Norse. While initial reports suggested that IndiGo was set to wet lease six Boeing 787-9 aircraft, the latest agreement confirms a total of four.

IndiGo, in a press release, stated that it will continue exploring opportunities to contract additional aircraft. This decision comes in response to the growing demand for air travel, ahead of the airline’s scheduled delivery of A321XLRs in FY2026 and A350s in 2027.

LN-FNC is a 6.8-year-old Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner owned by Aercap, as per a report by ch-aviation. The aircraft is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines.

The aircraft will complement IndiGo's two Boeing 777-300ERs, which are currently in service under a wet lease from Turkish Airlines. IndiGo also has a codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines.
