MASkargo has expanded its partnership with Qatar Airways Cargo by launching a dedicated twice-weekly Boeing 777 freighter service connecting Kuala Lumpur, Bengaluru and Doha. The new service adds 200 tonnes of weekly cargo capacity and aims to strengthen Kuala Lumpur's position as a regional cargo gateway connecting Asia with key global trade lanes.

Operated by Qatar Airways Cargo's Boeing 777 freighters, the KUL-BLR-DOH-KUL service provides additional capacity for general cargo, perishables, pharmaceuticals and valuables.

By combining MASkargo's network across Asia with Qatar Airways Cargo's global network, the partnership gives customers improved connectivity to key markets across Asia, Europe and North America through Kuala Lumpur and Bengaluru.

Since the launch of the twice-weekly freighter operations, the service has transported more than 1,000 tonnes of cargo, reflecting strong demand for enhanced cargo connectivity. The companies said the partnership also strengthens network resilience, supports Asia-linked trade flows and expands access to key international markets.

Mark Jason Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of MASkargo, said the collaboration reinforces Kuala Lumpur's position as a strategic cargo gateway connecting Asia with major global trade lanes.

He said MASkargo's passenger and freighter network continues to support cargo movements across regional and international markets, while the partnership with Qatar Airways Cargo enhances connectivity, operational flexibility and customer value. He added that the collaboration supports the company's plans to optimise its cargo network and provide more agile logistics solutions to meet the changing demands of global trade and high-value freight.

The latest expansion builds on the strategic partnership between the two carriers that officially began on 1 October 2024. Under that partnership, Qatar Airways Cargo launched twice-weekly Boeing 777 freighter services between Doha and Kuala Lumpur, increasing weekly cargo capacity by more than 200 tonnes. Since its launch, the collaboration has handled around 2,400 tonnes of cargo, including more than 600 tonnes of perishables and 130 tonnes of pharmaceuticals, while giving MASkargo access to Qatar Airways Cargo's global network and expanding Qatar Airways Cargo's reach across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

The collaboration was further strengthened in April 2025 when Qatar Airways Cargo, IAG Cargo and MASkargo announced their intention to establish a Global Cargo Joint Business, subject to regulatory approval. The proposed agreement aims to combine the three carriers' networks and expertise to provide improved connectivity, faster transit times, new routing opportunities and a more streamlined product offering for customers across the global air freight market. The airlines later said they were progressing towards the launch of the JBA as regulatory approvals continued.

MASkargo said it will continue to strengthen its position as a regional cargo and logistics partner through strategic partnerships, expanded connectivity and customer-focused solutions. The company added that the collaboration supports its long-term ambition to develop Kuala Lumpur as a regional cargo gateway while facilitating the movement of high-value goods linked to the digital economy, advanced manufacturing and international trade.
