Marco Bloemen and Daniel dos Reis Miranda, former Seabury Consulting professionals, have launched Aevean, an aviation and logistics strategy consulting firm. The firm, founded by industry experts, offers specialised consulting services and comprehensive market intelligence. Aevean founders have managed to get Atlas Air Worldwide, the American cargo airline and one of the world’s biggest ACMI operators, as a strategic partner. However, the founders claim that they are launching “a fully independent consulting firm”.

The company’s name, a fusion of "Aero" and "Ocean," reflects its focus on both air and sea domains, according to an official release by Aevean.

The company will assemble a highly skilled team of consultants and analysts, blending extensive air cargo expertise with premium strategy consulting. Aevean aims to serve a broad spectrum of clients in the global airfreight industry, including airlines, ground handlers, airports, forwarders, integrators, shippers, e-commerce companies, and OEMs, the release added.

"Our mission at Aevean is to fuel our clients’ success in the aviation and logistics sectors by delivering strategic insights to make informed, impactful decisions," says Marco Bloemen, Chief Executive Officer of Aevean. "With a strong focus on quality data and advanced analytics, we actively engage with our clients to help them navigate the complexities of this rapidly evolving market. Our approach is not just about optimisation for today, but about finding and creating value for the future.”

Bloemen began his career in the cargo division of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines in 1992 doing revenue management. He spent over a decade with Seabury Group in its corporate advisory and aviation consulting business as senior vice president. When Accenture acquired this business in 2017 from Seabury Group, Bloemen became the managing director and head of Accenture Cargo. However, he had left Accenture some time back and was busy building Aevean along with his co-founder Daniel dos Reis Miranda.

Miranda was also at Seabury and later at Accenture Cargo leading a a high performing data analytics team of 30+ analysts, scientists, and engineers based across offices in Europe and APAC, developing innovative data products and analytical tools (SaaS) used by major airlines, airports, and logistics service providers globally. He had earlier spent over 13 years with Amsterdam Airport Schiphol managing traffic analysis and later as project manager for airport concessions.

Headquartered in the Netherlands, Aevean's leadership team is led by Bloemen and Miranda, the other managing director. Maarten Wormer is the head of consulting.

Wormer also comes with experience in air cargo strategy and network and fleet optimisation while working with Accenture from 2014 and later with the development of the Seabury Cargo Model, a holistic decision-support tool to optimise the networks (including partnerships and alliances), fleet and origin & destination mix of carriers. Before joining Aevean, Wormer was head of cargo and director of product at FLYR, a technology company leveraging artificial intelligence to help airlines, cargo, and hospitality businesses around the globe to elevate their results.
