Kuehne+Nagel has expanded its own-controlled air freight network by adding Frankfurt to its Inspire aircraft rotation, strengthening connectivity between North America, Europe and Asia and enhancing key trade flows across major global markets.

The updated rotation, effective June 2026, includes a weekly service from Chicago to Frankfurt, continuing to Atlanta. The new connection directly links Frankfurt and Chicago, two major pharmaceutical production and distribution hubs, supporting the movement of time-sensitive healthcare shipments.

The first Inspire flight has arrived in Frankfurt, marking a further expansion of the network. As Europe’s leading air cargo hub, Frankfurt handles around 2 million tonnes of cargo annually and plays a key role in the movement of high-value and time-sensitive goods.

The enhanced Inspire rotation links Atlanta, Chicago, Frankfurt, Liège, Sharjah and Taipei, improving connectivity across key transatlantic and Asia-Europe trade lanes. The network is designed to support industries that require high levels of reliability and speed, including pharmaceuticals, aerospace, high-tech, semiconductors and cloud infrastructure.

Inspire is Kuehne+Nagel’s own-controlled Boeing 747-8 freighter, operated by Atlas Air under a long-term charter agreement. The Boeing 747-8F, the largest cargo aircraft manufactured by Boeing, has a cargo capacity of about 140 tonnes, enabling the transport of high-value and complex shipments across major global trade lanes.

“Frankfurt is one of Europe’s leading air cargo and pharmaceutical hubs, linking regional production with global markets. The expanded Inspire rotation provides customers with capacity, reliability and greater global connectivity for both healthcare shipments and other time-sensitive cargo, including high-tech and semiconductor flows,” said Martin Schaefer, SVP Air Logistics Germany at Kuehne+Nagel.

Kuehne+Nagel said it continues to expand its own-controlled capacity, which now comprises more than 100 weekly charter connections worldwide. Through its network and gateway model, the company aims to strengthen reliability, speed and service consistency across its air logistics operations while retaining the flexibility to respond to changing trade patterns and customer requirements.
