IAG Cargo, International Airlines Group's cargo division, has announced the restart of services between Barcelona and Chile for the first time since the pre-pandemic period. From October 31, 2022, the service will operate four times per week to Santiago de Chile International Airport. A LEVEL Airbus A330-200 aircraft will be used for the service.

Barcelona, along with London Heathrow, Madrid, and Dublin, is one of IAG Cargo's four hubs, and it is home to two of the IAG Group's airlines, LEVEL and Vueling. With an extensive transportation network into neighboring nations, Barcelona is ideally positioned to link Latin America and the rest of Europe.

Rodrigo Casal, Regional Commercial Manager - Latin America, IAG Cargo said, "Latin America is a major trade route for our customers, particularly for perishables into Europe. We're delighted to be able to restart our operations between Barcelona and Chile to facilitate the movement of essential foods and support local farming communities."

IAG Cargo now operates over 250 weekly flights between Europe, the United Kingdom, and Latin American countries like Mexico, Brazil, and Ecuador. This increased capacity between Spain and Chile will aid in the transfer of popular commodities including fruit, vegetables, and fish, leveraging IAG Cargo's Constant Fresh service to ensure the goods gets on shop shelves in optimum condition.

Ricard Falomir, Chief Operations & Digital Officer, LEVEL said, "We are pleased to resume our operations between Barcelona and Santiago de Chile for passengers and cargo, contributing to the extensive cargo network of IAG Cargo, possible thanks to the synergies of the Group. LEVEL is the only airline that directly connects both destinations, a strategic market regarding not only passengers but also cargo. The route is in addition to the service in Buenos Aires, which reaches the daily flight in this winter season".

In a roundtable hosted early this month, IAG Cargo also announced that its winter 2022 schedule is offering more weekly services in India than pre-pandemic, with 112 weekly flights servicing 5 Indian airports.
