FedEx launches Guangzhou-Sydney freighter service for faster transit
The five-times-weekly Boeing 777 freighter service increases capacity and enables shipments from key Asian markets to reach Australia in as little as two business days

FedEx has launched a new dedicated non-stop freighter service between its Asia-Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China, and Sydney, Australia, to strengthen inbound trade connectivity into Australia from key markets across Asia.
Operating five times a week with Boeing 777 freighter aircraft, the new service is expected to reduce transit times by up to one day for select shipments. Cargo from Southern Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand can now reach Australia in as little as two business days.
The new routing is designed to support Asian exporters by providing more direct and reliable access to Australia. It also increases capacity for heavy-weight freight and high-value goods while helping businesses improve supply chain efficiency through faster speed to market and lower inventory holding costs. The service is also expected to support business-to-business growth in time-sensitive and high-value sectors.
“In today’s environment of shifting supply chains and rising customer expectations, competitive advantage is defined by the strength and reliability of our network. This enhancement reinforces the depth of our intra-Asia connectivity, enabling customers to access key markets like Australia faster, operate with greater agility and capture more growth opportunities with confidence,” said Salil Chari, President, Asia Pacific, FedEx. “It also supports more resilient supply chains that underpin long-term, sustainable business growth.”
FedEx said intra-Asia trade recorded a double-digit year-on-year revenue increase in 2025, highlighting the region’s growing importance in global trade. As businesses continue to reshape supply chains to make them faster, more regional and more resilient, the company said its direct connection through the Guangzhou Hub will strengthen air connectivity across Asia and support high-velocity trade.
The new Guangzhou-Sydney service is part of FedEx's broader strategy to strengthen its intra-Asia network and improve regional trade connectivity. In recent months, the company has expanded its network with dedicated Guangzhou-Penang cargo flights, added weekly freighter services between Guangzhou and Bangkok, and enhanced outbound connections from Hanoi to South Korea. These investments are aimed at increasing capacity, improving transit times and supporting growing trade flows across Asia.
