FedEx has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Southern Air Logistics, establishing a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening collaboration, improving operational efficiency and enhancing global service capabilities. The two companies will work together to build a more efficient and resilient global air logistics network.

The MoU was signed in Guangzhou by Poh-Yian Koh, President of FedEx China, and Li Xiao, Chairman of China Southern Air Logistics. The signing was witnessed by Richard W. Smith, Chief Operating Officer, International and Chief Executive Officer, Airline at FedEx, and Han Wensheng, President of China Southern Air Holding.

Under the agreement, the two companies will explore cooperation in international flight and hub connectivity, network planning, fleet resources, ground operations and digitalisation. The partnership aims to create mutual benefits while supporting the development of global air logistics operations.

Poh-Yian Koh said the agreement provides an opportunity for both companies to deepen business alignment and strengthen air logistics network development. He added that combining FedEx's global air network with China Southern Air Logistics' experience in domestic and international markets will help improve route connectivity and operational efficiency while supporting growing cross-border logistics demand from Chinese customers.

Li Xiao said the two companies already share a strong foundation of cooperation and that the signing marks an important step in expanding and deepening their partnership. He said the companies will focus on cargo capacity, routes, fleet resources, operations and digitalisation to improve supply chain stability and efficiency while strengthening Guangzhou's position as an international aviation hub.

FedEx has operated in China since 1984 and continues to expand its network and service capabilities in the market. The company said it has recently further optimised its logistics network linking China with key markets across Asia and Europe, helping customers build more resilient and reliable supply chains in a changing global trade environment.
