US Cargo Systems, the company that designs and develops cargo handling and aerial delivery systems for both commercial and military aircraft, has achieved an important milestone in the Embraer E-Freighter programme.

In May this year, Embraer and US Cargo Systems successfully completed the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) installation conformity for the E190F. This major achievement propels both Embraer and US Cargo Systems closer to the eagerly awaited entry into service of the E-Freighter programme, mentions US Cargo Systems in a LinkedIn post.

Installation conformity specifically refers to verifying that a new/modified installation or component on the aircraft meets the applicable certification requirements and is properly installed per approved data. In the case of E190F, the FAA conformity inspection focused on ensuring the cargo conversion met all the necessary requirements for safe operation as a cargo aircraft.

Embraer is converting its existing E-Jet passenger planes into cargo freighters, mainly the E190 and E195 under its E-Freighter programme.

The Embraer E190F aircraft recently completed its maiden flight in São José dos Campos, Brazil. Embraer and Correios, Brazil's state-controlled postal company, have also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) focused on air cargo transport.
