Challenge Group is increasing its air freight operations ahead of Valentine’s Day. Two months ago, the company began weekly flights into Nairobi using a Boeing 767-300BDSF freighter aircraft. Since then, it has tripled capacity by upgrading some flights with a Boeing 747-400 freighter aircraft.

Nairobi is Challenge Group’s first destination in Africa. The service is a response to the airfreight capacity shortage in the region. Through strategic alliances and local partnerships, the company has positioned Nairobi as a gateway to other destinations in Africa.

Over the past two weeks, Challenge Handling in Liège has managed more than 30 flights from different customers, moving over 3,000 tonnes of fresh flowers. The facility includes a fast-track system that allows the simultaneous loading of two Boeing 747-400F freighters. There is also a dedicated cool area for post-flight treatment, cooling, and sorting. The customs clearance process is designed to be quick. These operations strengthen Liège Airport’s role as a hub for perishable goods and a key entry point to European markets.

“With Nairobi as our first African destination, we are committed to supporting our customers' needs and delivering our services wherever required. Backed by nearly five decades of expertise in transporting perishable goods, we provide end-to-end logistics solutions tailored for this specific sector. Additionally, our operations in Nairobi support a crucial local industry, reinforcing our role as a key enabler of global trade,” Or Zak, Challenge Group CCO, stated.

“The upcoming Air Cargo Africa conference and exhibition presents the perfect opportunity for our sales team to engage with both existing and prospective customers, strengthen business relationships, and explore new opportunities to further expand our footprint across the continent,” he added.

Challenge Group continues to expand its network and improve air freight operations. The company aims to provide logistics solutions that facilitate global trade and improve connections between key markets.
