Avianca Cargo to increase capacity for Ecuador's floriculture sector

Avianca Cargo, a leader in flower transport in Ecuador, will increase its cargo capacity by approximately 20 percent in 2024, in anticipation of high-demand seasons.

The decision reflects the company’s commitment to meeting the needs of the dynamic floriculture market, and supporting Ecuadorian exporters in delivering their products to international markets punctually and safely, says an official release.

The capacity increase we announced does not only reflect our commitment to helping flower producers and exporters during peak demand seasons but also our mission to continue improving our service and being a strategic partner for the industry."

The airline currently offers 10 weekly cargo flights for flower transport from Quito, seven bound for Miami and three to Los Angeles with plans for a 20 percent increase in capacity to Miami.

Ecuador’s cargo transport has grown by about 20 percent over the last four years, with 90 percent of the cargo from the destination being flowers that are exported to markets in the United States and Europe, the release added.

Avianca Cargo currently operates more than 220 weekly cargo flights and over 1,400 flights with belly capacity, connecting over 70 destinations around the world, the release added.
