Avianca, Amazon boost Bogotá–Miami freighter service to twice daily
At the TIACA Executive Summit 2025, Avianca Cargo CEO Diogo Elias confirmed that its Bogotá–Miami freighter service has been expanded to twice-daily flights.

Colombian cargo carrier Avianca Cargo and Amazon Air have expanded their Bogotá–Miami freighter service to twice-daily flights.
At the 2025 TIACA Executive Summit in Hong Kong, Avianca Cargo CEO Diogo Elias confirmed that the freighter service, which began operating in April and was officially announced in June, has now been expanded to twice-daily flights.
The partnership sees Avianca provide Amazon with a daily Boeing 767-300 freighter charter operation between Miami and Bogotá to enhance airfreight capacity between the U.S. and Latin America.
The Colombian cargo carrier operates a fleet of eight aircraft, comprising seven Airbus A330-200 freighters and one Airbus A330-300 freighter.
Speaking at last year’s Air Cargo Forum (ACF) hosted by The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA), Avianca Cargo CEO Diogo Elias highlighted Miami as the carrier’s main hub. He noted that Avianca operates extensive services across South and Central America, including key routes to the U.S. West Coast and Mexico. Major trade lanes include Miami to Viracopos International Airport (VCP) in Campinas, as well as Buenos Aires and Santiago. Elias added that the airline serves all major South American markets along with niche destinations across Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, and also maintains strong operations in Colombia and Ecuador.
“The air cargo industry is navigating a dynamic global landscape shaped by geopolitical changes and evolving supply chains. In response, the industry is prioritising agility, strategic partnerships, and long-term value creation with customers and partners, creating new opportunities. Perishables and e-commerce remain core volume drivers for Latin America, and in the short-term, sectors such as pharmaceuticals and technology are expected to gain strong traction,” Elias said while participating in an industry round table at the TIACA Executive Summit in Hong Kong.
Avianca Cargo has recently implemented a strategy focused on maximising aircraft capacity, expanding network, and delivering flexible, market responsive solutions. It has over 70 interline agreements reaching 350 destinations.
“This new service agreement enables Amazon Air Cargo to bring our customer-obsessed approach to Colombia’s airfreight market segment,” says Tom Bradley, Director of Global Air Cargo, Amazon Air Cargo.
“We’re excited to deliver the speed, reliability, and high service standards that Amazon customers expect, while supporting the growing demands of cross-border commerce between Colombia and the U.S.
"This dedicated air cargo service will help businesses of all sizes connect with customers across these important market segments more efficiently.”
Amazon Air operates a fleet of 96 aircraft, comprising 10 Airbus A330-300 freighters, 27 Boeing 737-800 freighters, and 59 Boeing 767-300 freighters. The carrier serves an extensive network covering all major regions across North America, Latin America, EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa), and Asia.
